An InHealth Upfront Idea

Delegate Duties

Delegate ALL duties (including documenting patient allergies) that don’t REQUIRE a Physician’s License.

According to the Medical Economics article, “10 Ways Your Practice Can Work Smarter,” physicians should examine their daily processes. They will more than likely be surprised by the number of tasks they are doing themselves that really should be delegated to another staff member.

Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, or Physician Assistants should be questioning the patient and documenting in the medical record the patient’s chief complaint, history of illness, family history of illness, and allergies.

Even if you have to hire an extra staffer or increase a part-timer’s hours, the increase in physician productivity should offset the higher personnel cost.
